Lecture and Silent Auction at Oakland Zoo7th Annual Celebrating ElephantsMay 22, 2003 Another successful lecture and silent auction were held at the Oakland Zoo to benefit the Amboseli Elephant Research Project and the Elephant Sanctuary ( http://www.elephants.com/ ). Carol Buckley, Asian elephant expert and co-founder of the 800-acre Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee, discussed her life-long journey with elephants and the creation of a natural habit refuge specifically developed for elephants. Buckley also shared plans for the arrival of the first African Elephants to join the sanctuary.
