At last, Amboseli receives decent rain

A few days ago on a drive around the park one would notice that things weren’t looking all that promising for the animals because Amboseli was yet to receive proper rain to sustain its wildlife population. On some days it would get very hot by nine in the morning and elephant families tend to arrive into the swamps early to beat the scorching sun. Young calves born this year are the ones getting it worse. One day observing a family arriving to the park from north on a very hot and sunny day, a young few months old calf brought up the rear looking very exhausted and burning hot as the family tried to get to the swamp fast to quench their thirst and cool their bodies. Now the elephants and other animals can rejoice because for the past two days Amboseli has received a good amount of decent rain and it’s been cloudy and cool since the afternoon of 11th Dec 2007.
