Animal Planet Filming Completed

Today was the final day of filming for the Animal Planet series. Martyn Colbeck did some last shots of Soila, Norah, Katito and me on the top of Observation Hill in the middle of the Park.
We are sad to have Martyn leave but mostly relieved that the filming is over. It has been intense. We started in early September so it’s been over eight months. There were a few breaks but with two cameramen, Martyn and Mike Cuthbert, some filming was going on nearly every day. However, that intensity paid off because they both got marvellous footage of elephants and people.
Now the post-production begins in earnest in London. Out of the material shot they have to come up with 13 half hour programs. There are plenty of excellent sequences but it is still a huge job to create the stories and then realize them in a way that will totally engage an audience. Of course, I’m biased and think elephant are always totally fascinating.
The series is scheduled to start broadcasting in January 2009. It doesn’t yet have an overall title, but I will post all the details as soon as I know them.

Hezy Shoshani -- film research
Hi Cynthia --
This was the only way we could find to get hold of you.
My colleague, Jennifer Hile, and I are developing a documentary about Hezy Shoshani and his work with elephants in Eritrea/Ethiopia. We were hoping to have the opportunity to talk with you, hoping perhaps you could assist us with gathering some preliminary information.
We are both established producer/directors with experience with all the major US networks and beyond (including Nat Geo and Animal Planet). I will be glad to provide you with more information about Jen and myself.
Kindly

Last day on Observation Hill
Here's a picture Cynthia just sent me of the core team (minus Robert - who was probably taking the picture) on the last day..
We shall miss the bustle in camp of the filmmakers coming and going at odd hours with their Landrover full of gear. Can't wait to see the series.
Left to right: Martyn, Soila, Katito, Cynthia, Norah
