Hi to all you fellow elephant lovers...I recently ordered two DVDs, the first one is Echo and Other Elephants and saw some feedback on what to expect but the second one, Nature: Echo of the Elephants, can someone provide some feedback on what you thought of this one? If not that's ok, it will be a surprise...like a really cool gift.

Thank you! ...Noella

Echo and Other Elephants

Hi Noella,

I bought this DVD set a couple of months ago, and I have already watched all three of the Echo films several times. (As previously noted, "Echo of the Elephants" is included in the set as well.) They are all wonderful! The detail is amazing - I felt as if I knew each of the elephants personally, just from watching the shows. Enjoy!

Thank you for your responses and seeing as I will have an extra copy I can always give Echo of the Elephants as a gift to someone...no worries.

Echo films

The Echo and Other Elephants DVD will include all three Echo documentaries and several other films on elephants. So it sounds like you might actually end up with the first Echo movie twice. All the Echo movies are fantastic and anyone who loves elephants will really enjoy them. They were what got me really hooked on Amboseli and Cynthia's work.

Agree

Agree. All three Echo documentaries are great. Personally I like the first one the most, for it's so inspiring and heartwarming. I wish some day we will bump into a grown Ely,
I recommend the book Cynthia wrote "Elephant Memories: 13 years in the Life of An Elephant Family". It's about the T family and the entire Amboseli environment. Echo I inspired me to do more research on elephants and this book got me really hooked on ATE. Looking forward the new Amboseli book.
Enjoy.

Scientific work

To my limited knowledge the book will contain scientific results, so it may be harder to read than a novel.

It wasn't hard to read

English is my second language and I didn't read many novels, but this book is really informative and interesting. Like "clm 1950" I've read it several times and every time I found it's fascinating.

Elephant Memories

There really is hardly anything the average reader would have a difficult time understanding. Very much a story and a fascinating read.

I meant the new Amboseli book

Mon, 2009-05-04 18:14 by Hans

Sorry for my ambiguous comment. I meant the new, forthcoming Amboseli book, not "Elephant Memories", but the one that is mentioned here.

"Elephant Memories" is certainly a wonderful read for everybody, while the new book is, I believe, going to be a scientific reference work.

I just wanted to mention this, so nobody is disappointed. I don't know anything for sure. This is just what I have heard.

Elephant Memories

Agree hge. I love Elephant Memories. I have read it several times and I have seen all the DVDs mentioned above. Supporters of ATE really should read the book first, then watch the Echo DVDs.

Echo of the Elephants

I can only comment on the third part of this series, dubbed, "The Final Chapter?" I think that is a wonderful and very interesting and informative documentary, masterly narrated by David Attenborough.

I'm sure you will not regret this one, and I would hope that the others are of the same quality.
