Training Community Elephant Guardians![]() We trained 15 community game scouts, who will be running two elephant anti-poaching camps situated to the south of Amboseli National Park. As elephant and other wildlife guardians the scouts will alert ATE and Kenya Wildlife Service personnel of potential threats to elephants. The camps will be strategically set to ensure that there are frequent crossborder (Kenya and Tanzania) patrols to curb potential elephant poaching. Considering that most cases of elephant poaching and injuries through spearing have been witnessed in this area, we feel that these camps will greatly improve elephant security in the area. In order to sustain the camps, ATE seeks financial support that will go towards scout’s daily rations, allowances and transport. By John Kioko and Soila Saiyalel

Soila and John,
The elephant guardians sounds like an excellent plan. I do hope the scouts will have a positive impact. I've made the first of several small donations to help support this project. Thanks for your dedication to the eles and to Kenya.
Thank you, Soila, for this report.
