RSPCA calls for end to keeping elephants in zoos mirror.co.uk There should be a ban on importing elephants into UK zoos, demands the RSPCA. The call comes as a report, commissioned by Defra, raises serious concerns about their welfare. RSPCA scientist Dr Ros Clubb said: "Elephants are without question suffering in zoos. It would be super if elephants were taken fom all zoos. I have never seen a happy elephant in a zoo.

Thanks for posting this article Hans. In a previous paper, ATE provided some of the data used to compare zoo elephants to wild elephants. Amboseli elephants live longer than zoo elephants despite all the dangers they encounter.
