incarcerated elephants in need of assistance

The elephants at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, named Chai, Bamboo and Watoto, need your support and input. These elephants have been in very restricted conditions for many years. Chai has been artificially inseminated at least 50 times. Her baby, Hansa, died horribly from Herpes virus. The zoo insists on inseminating her in a "crush cage" frequently and cruelly.
The three elephants have a chance for a better life. The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee has agreed to transport and welcome Chai, Bamboo and Watoto and provide care for the rest of their lives. However, the Woodland Park Zoo has funded a comprehensive media campaign to stubbornly resist this humane outcome.
We desperately need people to weigh in on the elephants' behalf. Dame Daphne Sheldrick provided a lovely letter in support of release, but unfortunately, this only made a small wave of difference. We need elephant experts to send emails in support of release of these elephants to sanctuary, where they can have happier and healthier lives.

You can find more information about the WPZ elephants: www.freeWPZelephants.org

Please send emails, with agreement for media release, to:
me, jeanne jeanne@activestillness.com
the zoo: deborah.jensen@zoo.org
Seattle city council (who partially funds the zoo): sally.bagshaw@seattle.gov

Thank you on behalf of the suffering incarcerated zoo elephants!!

Hi Jeanne, I emailed all of the names that were listed and placed my name on the petition, I really hope these elephants make it to the Elephant Sanctuary!

Thank you for posting.
