Silent AuctionImagine a roomful of all items elephant, whether it's a book, a pair of earnings, or a photograph, then you would have been at the silent auction at the Oakland Zoo on May 18, 2000. Many generous donors donated close to 140 items. There were many attractive and interesting items. Perhaps the most special one being a framed photograph of "Lillian under the Rainbow," which is an 8x10 Cibachrome picture donated by Cynthia Moss. At the conclusion of the evening, after much furious silent bidding, the priceless photo went for $450!
This writer simply could not resist the lure of the silent auction and was thrilled to go home with a copy of "Little Big Ears; The Story of Ely," which is still out of print.
