Name an Amboseli Research Elephant

Among the elephants living in Amboseli National Park are many calves yet to be given a research name. With your special donation, you will be invited to select a name for one of the research elephants. It is a unique way to honor a friend, family member or other loved one. The name you chose will be recorded in the project ledger and be kept for the life of the animal--elephants can live 60 years or more.

When you name an elephant, you join an exclusive group of individuals around the world who have demonstrated a special commitment to this exceptional project and these magnificent animals. Project Director Cynthia Moss will send you a history of the elephant's family with information about its mother, brothers, sisters, and aunts. You will also receive a photo of the calf along with a "birth certificate" bearing the name of your choosing.

Cynthia Moss and her staff will send you periodic updates and photos of your elephant and its family as it grows up. In addition, you will receive AERP annual reports and special reports. Those fortunate enough to travel to Amboseli may be able to visit their named elephant in person.

Hi Swoo,

"Swoo" is the son of Smithie who is the daughter of Shirley, the matriarch of the SA family. Smithie is 17 years old and this is her first known calf. "Swoo" was born in January 2000 so he's 16 months old.

I'm sending two photos of Swoo I took in February.

All the best, Cynthia
